😳 Wow。。。the surprises keep coming。

Dark and twisty and yet totally believable because you understand the main character so well。 Set in Ireland over one wedding weekend, written with enough mystery and description to feel like you were there。

Teri Christman

Four stars is being a little kind。 Great character development but the story was only OK。 Kind of an Agatha Christie style who done it。

3。5 stars。 This book was good and interesting with a plot twist at the end, but nothing life changing。 Good entertainment of a who done it plot twist。

You will not be disabused of your belief that English boarding schools are barbaric places where terror reigns as you read this book。 To the contrary, you'll look back on your own high school education as nearly heavenly, even if it was filled with demanding, nasty teachers and mean girls。 There are few characters here to admire: I choose the plus one, wife of the bride's best friend from childhood。 Hew character is well-developed, and I found myself cheering her on as she observed her husband's You will not be disabused of your belief that English boarding schools are barbaric places where terror reigns as you read this book。 To the contrary, you'll look back on your own high school education as nearly heavenly, even if it was filled with demanding, nasty teachers and mean girls。 There are few characters here to admire: I choose the plus one, wife of the bride's best friend from childhood。 Hew character is well-developed, and I found myself cheering her on as she observed her husband's attempts to ingratiate himself with the snobby 'old boys。' Even the Irish island, selected by the bride for her wedding to honor her Irish heritage and filled with life-snatching bogs, leaves little to admire。 On the other hand, Foley's well contrived plot held my attention throughout。 I knew from the back cover that someone would die, but even that basic plot element was saved for the very end of the book。 A fun summer read。 。。。more

An easy, fast-paced read; not great literature but entertaining and gripping。 I found the characters quite one-dimensional, and not always likeable, yet I was still hooked。 And I hadn’t worked out the ending。

I gave this a one star, because I truly thought this book was a disappointment in comparison to the hype。 I found the storyline to be very slow, very repetitive, very predictable, and quite a bore, to be honest。 I wanted to love it, I really did, but in end, it left me wondering why I wasted so much time on it。

This book starts with a body being found at a wedding and then goes back to follow several intertwined characters through the days leading up to the wedding。 There are clearly some mysteries going on - some of which you'll guess and others that you won't。 As I got closer to the end, I did find it hard to put down。 I wanted to see how the author tied up all of the loose threads。 This book starts with a body being found at a wedding and then goes back to follow several intertwined characters through the days leading up to the wedding。 There are clearly some mysteries going on - some of which you'll guess and others that you won't。 As I got closer to the end, I did find it hard to put down。 I wanted to see how the author tied up all of the loose threads。 。。。more

Jännitys rakentui pitkään ja henkilösuhteet paljastuivat yllättäviksi, mutta loppu tuli liian nopesti。

It was DNF for me, however, I did care enough to find a synopsis online with all the spoilers。 The concept was great, but to be honest, I was bored。 I got 40% or so and just couldn't do it。 It was DNF for me, however, I did care enough to find a synopsis online with all the spoilers。 The concept was great, but to be honest, I was bored。 I got 40% or so and just couldn't do it。 。。。more

Excellent read。 Enjoyed a lot。Amazing way to tell story。I predicted murderer :-), but still excellent。

Not my usual cup of tea (I notice I'm saying this more and more lately - trying new genres!) but I was entertained by this "book club" read。 I prefer literary fiction when I can get it, but sometimes it's nice to cleanse my palate with a book that delivers exactly what it promises, in this case, a murder mystery。 Foley is a bit too enamored of the device she uses - short chapters that focus on key characters and go back and forth in time。 She focuses on form over character development and plot - Not my usual cup of tea (I notice I'm saying this more and more lately - trying new genres!) but I was entertained by this "book club" read。 I prefer literary fiction when I can get it, but sometimes it's nice to cleanse my palate with a book that delivers exactly what it promises, in this case, a murder mystery。 Foley is a bit too enamored of the device she uses - short chapters that focus on key characters and go back and forth in time。 She focuses on form over character development and plot - all a bit too prescribed and neat for me。 。。。more

An average read。 Too much of a drag。 Felt like giving it up multiple times。 Overall storyline is not bad but its a small story in a big novel。
